Breaking Away TONIGHT
Your name is...fear
And you demand that I abide by your despair
~
I gave you everything that you have ever asked
And I never got a thing in return for ANY of that
But you still managed to continuously stab me in the back
~
Your name is...remorse
And you wish for me keep true to this damaging oath
~
I was nothing but a puppet; I was just your personal scapegoat
These sinister strings guided me to cast aside all forms of pride and hope
I considered us to be friends because you were all I used to know
~
Your name is...sorrow
And all you want is to darken the brightest tomorrow
~
I was your undying sacrifice; the one and only reoccurring offering
You had an unquenchable thirst for my untimely, man-made suffering
There's countless times where I put you before myself- it's so god-damn sickening
~
Your name is...tainted
And you believe that we are fated
~
I've remained here, behind your bars, locked up and shackled
I was a prisoner held captive, wrapped in chains and a straitjacket
Handcuffed and muzzled because you knew that one day I would try and change this
~
Your name is...corruption
And you desire for me to take on all your burdens
~
I was just a temporary cure for your demeaning curse
Stacking everything upon me, just so you wouldn't get worse
It was all for your own benefit, and it paid off, but I just couldn't take it anymore
~
Your name is...darkness
And you thrive on feeding off of my weakness
~
But I cannot-and-will-not allow you to create my end
I have my own morals, and I believe in my own aspiring dreams
So I'm going to be leaving you, because this is MY life...and this is MY creed
~
Your name will proudly be left behind
Because I'm going to be breaking away TONIGHT!

My trembling hands-
Don't want to come together
I refuse to feel weakness-
Oppress the confessor
I will defy the defeat-
Of my body and mind
And my tears will freeze-
So I...will never cry

I was always told
That I have to be strong
But a child can never grow
When reminded that every decision is wrong
I didn't need to know
That strength was everything
Otherwise I would have given up a long time ago
Because that is my childish instinct
Take back every single breath / Take back those moments I lived
Take back those nightmares I dreamt / Take back those days I wept
I can only take so much / I can choose to give u

I couldn't see the consequences-
As I tried to trust my heart
I just couldn't resist-
The blind love that ceased my wars
Helping me let go of the struggles-
That I foolishly held in my hands
I freed the thoughts that quarreled-
Tears fell in order for me to stand

Truth can be the worst enemy
Lies can be the strongest ally
Harmony isn't immune to tragedy
Because you made a myth out of your apparent humanity
Mistakes can never be renamed! / Scars can never be erased!
Compassion is used as bait! / Two sides to every face!
A piece of peace is caged! / Watch the bridge burn away!
I'll desecrate the meaning of “passion”

And now I finally see-
The true face of faith that I once held so dearly
This sensation is somewhat familiar-
Thickening tears becoming entangled
I clench my trembling fists-
As a desperate prayer exits my tainted lips
-
Blindly lead down this beaten path
Reaching the end forces me to despise the past
Hymns of comfort have left me feeling torn
This flawed cross can't protect me anymore
I always reached for what wasn't even there
The darkness becomes clear as the light disappears
I kiss the regretful abyss / Embracing the rift I once lived
My pain and peace endlessly twist / Memories that no longer exist
